I remember being scared to death…
It was the first day of middle school.
I was standing there in my room. I could feel my heart beating in my ears, and my limbs were so heavy I couldn’t even move.
“I’m not going.” I don’t remember everything I said to my mom that morning, but I remember saying that. And I remember that sinking expression she had on her face. She knew I was petrified.
You might feel the same way right now.
Many who come to therapy are anxious as they walk into my office for the first time.
They’re embarrassed about their “shortcomings” or how they haven’t been able to manage their relationships.
That’s understandable. After all, you’re coming to me out of pain or frustration. It’s natural to be apprehensive about how you’ll be received.
And you probably have doubts, too. You want to make a change in your life that you haven’t been able to do on your own. Will this time be any different?
Let me put your mind at ease…
When you come to therapy, I’ll meet you with a caring, kind, and confident curiosity.
I am eager to find out about you. I want to know the pattern you’re stuck in. I want to know the emotions that drive these patterns. I want to know the things about you that your partner, child, or parent misses.
I invest myself in making sure you feel both safe and understood in these first few sessions. Within the first session or two, your muscles will start to relax as you realize you now have a teammate who has walked this path before.
I understand this process is hard.
But I’m here for you. I’ll support and encourage you every step of the way.
It would be a privilege to walk beside you during this painful or uncertain time in your life.

About Trevor Walton, LMFT
My road to becoming a therapist…
- After graduating high school, I went to Bible School at Moody Bible Institute with the intent of going into ministry. I discovered at this point that my heart and soul were not in a place to do ministry full time.
- I decided to try math teaching instead through an organization called Teach For America. I discovered that although I loved my students, I didn’t love teaching.
- Around this time, I was on my own healing journey in counseling, and so I decided to take a leap of faith and get my master’s degree in marriage and family therapy at Trevecca University…
I’m passionate about connection.
We live in a lonely age, and there is nothing lonelier than feeling a million miles away from the people you are supposed to be closest to.
I care deeply about helping people find peace and connection in their relationships. I do this through EFT (Emotionally Focused Therapy), which is all about taking the fighting and disconnection people experience in their relationships and transforming it into a secure, close connection.
My greatest loves…
I love Jesus and my church community, who remind me every week that I am deeply loved and redeemed… and worship a God who loves better than I ever could.
I love my wife, who is my best friend. We love watching sports together, puzzling, hiking, and just being goofy together.
